Successful 2015 Contract Ratification
1199 NM and Management have both ratified the new Union Contract effective June 1, 2015 to May 31, 2018. This year was a full contract review which happens every three years. Everyone worked hard to make it successful with a contract that benefits everyone. Together they used a new process to negotiate called Interest Based Bargaining (IBB), which began with consensus on Ground Rules to define the decision making process and interactions between the negotiating teams.
This negotiating process, also known as Win-Win bargaining, started with an acknowledgement by both sides of their key issues, positions and the underlying interests. This provided a dialog between Management and 1199 NM that was open, honest and respectful.
