Description

Position functions as the first encounter for patients, visitors and vendors. Professionally and accurately answers telephones, routes calls takes accurate and detailed messages; utilizing Athena to message and document patient calls. Consistently uses two patient identifiers in the patient registration process. Accurately completes the patient registration process in Athena. Responsible for monitoring the waiting area and working with clinical personnel and manager to ensure that patients are updated in the event of clinic delays and that the waiting area is neat and clean at all times. Accepts various forms from patients including incoming and outgoing medical record requests and routes them appropriately for completion. Ensures that ABAN forms are completed where appropriate. Completes check-out process with patients ensuring that any future visits on the After Visit Summary are coordinated and scheduled prior to the patient leaving the clinic 90% of the time or great as measured by the practice manager, monitors future schedules for irregularities and reports those irregularities immediately to the manger for resolution. Responsible for monitoring fax machine and routing incoming and sending outgoing transmissions. Monitors levels of office supplies and order, stocks and rotates supplies as requested by practice manager. Works with clinical staff to ensure that prior authorizations are in place for procedures and those patients and patient specimens are routed to the correct ancillary providers to ensure payment. Ensures that self-pay patients have resources materials from HCH social services department. May submit repair and work orders as directed by the practice manager.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED require
  • Previous patient registration experience in a healthcare setting preferred
  • Knowledge of State, Federal and Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations required
  • Excellent Customer Service Skills required
  • Bilingual in English Spanish preferred
  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize Microsoft Office Suite programs required.
