Environmental Service Aide II (Full Time)

Performs surgical services cleaning to maintain an aseptic environment for surgical procedures.  Cleans between Surgical cases to improve turn over time.  Assists with the cleaning of rooms and everything in the rooms.

Performs duties independently with minimal supervision, operating from specific and definite direction and instructions.  Decisions are of routine or critical nature, made within prescribed operating guidelines, policies, and procedures.  Is responsible for performing job duuties within institutional guidelines.  Performs terminal cleaning of all rooms and enteral Sterile one time per day.  Cleans furniture, vents, fixtures, floors, walls and halls.  Empties and relines trash containers and laundry hampers.  Cleans all patient areas in ASCU, PACU, OR  and Central Sterile.  Cleans medication room, dictation room, equipment storage, soiled utility, nursing station, anesthesia office, nursing office and break room.  Cleans male;female locker rooms including bathrooms, sinks and counters.  Restocks bathrooms with toilet paper, paper towels and soap as necssary.  Sorts, delivers and stocks linen in surgical deparment.  Responsible for restocking surgical supplies on a daily basis, including fluids, P.P.E. and sterile attire.  Maintains adequate supplies of specific stock items used for cleaning, disinfecting and maintaing the surgical department.

Generally is no supervisory in nature.

Has both internal and external contacts.  The most common internal contacts are with physicians and staff of the department.  The most frequent external contacts are with patients and their guests.  Both types of interactions involve information exchange, good customer service and problem solving.  

The individual must be able to prioritize a wide variety of taks, make decisions, cope with stressful situations, meet tight timeframes and adapt to changes in work load and work schedule.  Must be able to push a minimum of 100 lbs and be able to tolerate exposure to provided cleaning compounds.

Education and /or Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of (1) year housekeeping experience preferred.
  • Excellent Customer Service skills required.
  • Communication and organization skills required.
